Where to start…probably with a sentence that my dear aunt said to me when I told her that I had completed a great make-up course, actually the most comprehensive one that exists in the Czech Republic.
She started laughing and said, “You see, Kláruska, when you were 13 and deciding on high school, I talked your mom into letting you go to Prague to study makeup/ makeup artistry, because I thought it would be a good school for you. She didn’t. And now after all these years, it’s caught up with you anyway” LOL
My aunt was right. I remember trying to talk my mom into letting me at least go to art school. My mom recommended, because “the system” wanted economics majors and she wanted to ensure I had a good job in the future, to go to an economics school. But this school put all my creativity on hold. I then wanted to go to law school, but instead I decided to go abroad and learn a foreign language properly. And I stayed there for fifteen long years.
Today, I’m a certified coach, and makeup artistry was just supposed to be a sort of complementary service to coaching women. My goal was to offer a complete service to the client. To take care of her inner well-being as well as her beautiful exterior. Just beautiful and radiant from the inside out.
I just fell in love. I fell in love with makeup. I was incredibly hooked and the more I got into professional makeup, the more I enjoyed it.
I’ve been creative since I was a little girl. In Germany I worked as a manager in a women’s boutique for a few years, where I not only did styling, but also came up with window treatments and styling dolls. I returned to the Czech Republic and soon our first baby boy was born. I started to create jewellery from different materials and became a tutor. I wanted to perfect my jewellery so I started studying goldsmithing, but my studies were interrupted by pregnancy with my second baby boy. When the time is right, I will finish my schooling. It’s beautiful to see a piece of jewelry being born under your hands.
But not to digress.
Women are jewels, too. Each one is beautiful, and I make them an even more beautiful version of their beautiful selves.
A lot of women don’t know how to do their makeup right. I started wearing makeup when there was no Facebook, no Instagram, no makeup inspiration on the internet. There were magazines, that’s all. Since I lived abroad for so long and traveled a lot in America and the Far East, it wasn’t a problem for me to get any magazine. That’s how my Book was gradually created, full of makeup art, styling and jewelry clippings from all over the world. I did my make-up back then, it’s comical to see myself in some of the photos today. During my pregnancies, I got my eyebrows, eyeliner and lips tattooed for convenience and time saving makeup. Today, I would not do that anymore.
That’s why I’m here for you to find yourself, your image, your beauty and learn how to do makeup right, discover your style and not stand in front of the mirror with words: “Well, it doesn’t get any better”.
It will! I will advise and help you.
I look forward to seeing you in our studio in Prague 1.
Your Klára Alba
